First edition BISC-E kicks off

Last week the first edition of the biobased student competition BISC-E started. Five teams will develop a biobased innovation in the coming months, which they will present to a professional jury on 22 June.

The student teams come from Maastricht University, University of Twente, Utrecht University, Wageningen University and TU Eindhoven. Some teams focus on the development of new biofuels and others on the development of biobased materials.

During the presentation to the professional jury, students must demonstrate that their innovation contributes to a sustainable society and is technically and economically feasible.

Also Denmark and England have started the organization of a BISC-E competition. If there are already preliminaries in these countries this year, then there will be a European final in October.
